Many Grand California drivers wish for more water pressure in their Cali, be it for washing dishes or, especially, for showering.

That's why many quickly get a stronger pump and install it. Unfortunately, the replacement isn't quite so simple. The Grand California, or rather its control unit, supplies power to the pump. A larger pump means greater power consumption, which is clear enough. However, you would also have to tell the control unit this, and that's precisely what isn't easily done.

The result: Sometime after the replacement, perhaps not immediately, perhaps only in 2 weeks or 2 months, the pump stops pumping. The control unit thinks there's a problem because the current is higher than it should be. Usually, only a reset helps then, and the hope that it will fix the issue.

This is exactly what happened to us on vacation. Our stronger Reich pump (25 instead of 19 liters per minute) simply stopped working, and nothing helped – no main switch, no reset, nothing. Luckily, we had an original 19-liter spare pump with us; we installed it, and the water immediately started flowing again.

That annoyed us, so we built a solution ourselves. Our cable set solves the pump problem quickly and easily:

• It's plugged in between the existing connectors, no cutting, no soldering on the VW harness
• The original pump signal switches a relay (12 V/30 A) instead of directly loading the pump
• The pump gets its power cleanly via an internal 15 A fuse
• Your vehicle's electronics only see the small relay load and remain protected

Nothing on the vehicle needs to be cut or destroyed; the installation is completely plug and play. Installation takes less than 5 minutes and works even without extensive technical know-how. The cable set is equipped with original Volkswagen connectors and therefore integrates perfectly, just like an original component.
